Culinary Connections - Summer Cookout

Thursday, August 17, 2023 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • The Crawford, 474 S. Raymond Ave., Pasadena
$0-$20

It’s summertime and that means it’s time for a cookout! The pandemic put a pause on these gatherings, but we’re ready to come together again for joyous celebrations of friends, family, and community. Join Brian De Los Santos (he/him), host of How To LA, and Gab Chabrán (he/him), LAist’s food and culture editor, to explore the role that cookouts play in bringing us together and providing casual spaces for building community. And of course, we’ll have some great food for everyone to enjoy after the discussion. Now Serving LA will also be onsite with best summer cookout reads. So grab a plate and come hang out with us!

SPECIAL GUESTS

How To LA is now five days a week! Listen here.

ABOUT JANET KANG

Janet Kang, self proclaimed Dough Tamer of the Pizza Baby duo, has been cooking for as long as she can remember. Her first foray into the land of yeast began as a young child during summer vacations at home, watching PBS cooking shows and furiously copying down recipes on paper. The first yeasted loaf she made was a long loaf of “French” bread, studded with sesame seeds because it was the closest thing to cornmeal she could find in her Korean mom’s kitchen. Janet’s current project is Pizza Baby — located in a ghost kitchen — serving up Asian American inspired pizzas. Fun fact, in her youth Janet used to wrangle horses, now she wrangles gluten!
