Today will be mostly sunny, but come later tonight, the rain storm begins. Here's your weekend forecast.
Afternoon highs will reach the low 60s across the Southland. Coachella Valley highs have dropped to 73 degrees for today, and down to 57 degrees for the high desert. Higher elevations in the eastern San Gabriel mountains will see highs in the mid 40s.
Tonight's lows will be in the upper 40s across the Southland. Rain is expected to start after 11 p.m.
Most of the Southland is under a flood watch through the weekend due to the coming storm. Forecasters are saying this will be a very cold storm for this time of year.

Heavier rain will happen tonight through Saturday. The rain storm will then turn into showers come Sunday, but that's also when there's more chance of thunderstorms — weather forecasters say lookout for hail, lightning and gusty winds.
A wind advisory has been issued for the mountains and deserts, including Orange County.
Areas of heavy snowfall are also expected in our mountains above 6,000 feet. Forecasters say snow accumulations up to 30 inches is expected for the San Gabriel mountains. A winter storm warning is in effect from late tonight until Sunday evening for the 5 Freeway corridor, as well as the San Gabriel Mountains and the Ventura County mountains.
In the San Bernardino and Riverside county mountains, heavy snow is likely above 5,000 feet and up to 4 feet of snow is expected at higher peaks. It will also be windy, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph. Weather forecasters advise against traveling through the mountains this weekend.
On this day in 1998, the coldest storm of an El Niño year brought ice pellets, hail, several feet of snow to local mountains and heavy winds. Talk about history repeating itself.
