Metrolink And Amtrak Suspend Rail Service in San Clemente Due To Landslide

A landslide has damaged the Mariposa pedestrian bike bridge in San Clemente, causing Metrolink and Amtrak to suspend passenger rail service between Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo and Oceanside stations.

What we know so far: Debris from a hillside slope along the Mariposa Trail Bridge in San Clemente fell onto the railroad tracks. Metrolink service is operating only as far south as the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo station until further notice.

What's next: Crews are working to remove boulders and debris from the tracks but it's uncertain when the service will resume. Metrolink is offering affected riders a $50 Uber voucher, with Amtrak offering bus rides between Irvine and Oceanside.
