Los Angeles's 10th Council District, which covers most of South L.A., is home to streets named after America's first, second and third presidents. Soon, it will get a street named after No. 44. The L.A. City Council voted Tuesday night to turn Rodeo Road into Obama Boulevard.

"We're thrilled that Angelenos and visitors will forever be reminded of the legacy of President (Barack Obama) when traveling across L.A.," Mayor Eric Garcetti wrote in a tweet.

The soon-to-be former Rodeo Road (not to be confused with Bevery Hills' Rodeo Drive) runs east-west in the Baldwin Hills-Leimert Park area before it merges with Exposition Boulevard, west of USC.

City Council President Herb Wesson, who represents District 10, championed the effort to rename the street and pointed out the historic ties to yesterday's vote.
