Councilman Mike Bonin Talks Plans for Homeless Encampments

Tension around homeless encampments has reached a high point in several communities throughout L-A...with some residents complaining about parks and other outdoor spaces being taken over...and advocates calling for more to be done for those who are unhoused. No one is happy about this situation. And for the council district that includes neighborhoods like Venice, Mar Vista and Pacific Palisades, a lot of folks' ire is directed at Councilman Mike Bonin... and some of the policies he's proposed to look at beach parking and other recreational spaces for safe camping spots.

Pandemic Child Care, Unfiltered

If you’ve got kids, this has definitely been a year where you’ve probably thought a LOT about child care. We’ve seen friends, family members, and neighbors step up to help parents get to work. And at the same time, many child care providers have stayed open, and have had to take on extra costs and risks to do so. So we got really interested to know, what has this year looked like through the eyes of the people who care for Southern California’s youngest kids? KPCC's Early Childhood team, which includes reporter Mariana Dale and engagement producer Stefanie Ritoper, attempted to answer this question and this week produced "Child Care, Unfiltered," a project you can see on LAist.com.
