Today is the last day for low-income households to apply for $30 off their monthly internet bill ($75 for households on Tribal lands). The federal Affordable Connectivity Program will stop accepting new applications by 8:59 pm PST Wednesday night.
Why it matters: About 2.8 million California households are enrolled in the ACP, making the internet much more affordable. Funding for the $14.2 billion program is expected to run out by May unless Congress votes to extend it, but if you sign up today you'll get the discount through the end of the program.
What to do: You must be approved and enrolled with a service provider by Wednesday's deadline to receive the benefit.
How to apply:
- Go to GetInternet.gov (or AccedeaInternet.gov en español) to submit an application.
- Contact your internet service provider to select a plan and have the discount applied to your bill.
