Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta

The Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta is one of the highest Nigerian federal government higher education institutions, which is one of Nigeria’s three agricultural universities. For more details, read to the end.

Brief History of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta

The Federal Government founded the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, or FUNAAB on January 1, 1988, following the demerger of four technological universities that had previously combined in 1984.

As a result, they found the first two agricultural universities in Abeokuta and Makurdi. The university’s first Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nurudeen Olorun-Nimbe Adedipe, was appointed on the same day.

On January 28, 1988, Professor Adedipe formally started working. For a long time, the day Professor Adedipe assumed his duties was mistakenly designated as the founding day.

A council vote at its 53rd statutory meeting in June 2010 changed the foundation date back to 1 January 1988 under the law that created the institution after revisiting the instrument establishing it.
