About Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH)

The Governing Council of The Polytechnic, Ibadan asked Governor Adetunji Olurin, then the Military Governor of Oyo State (since divided into the states of Oyo and Osun), to create a State University in 1987. 

He established a seven-person interministerial group in 1988, with Mrs Oyinkan Ayoola as its chair, and it made the case for the establishment of the institution. The State’s request was approved by Nigeria’s federal military administration on March 13th, 1990. 

Colonel Sasaenia Oresanya signed the decree establishing the Oyo State University of Technology on April 23, 1990.

Campus and Academics 

The college, seven faculties, and roughly 30,000 students are enrolled at the university. Additionally, LAUTECH annually accepts more than 150 students through JUPEB Direct Entry into Level 200. 

[Reference needed] The Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) named LAUTECH as the top state university in Nigeria for the years 2003 and 2004.

Oyo state is home to the main campus. The post-graduate school, six faculties, and the university administration are all located on this campus.
